jackviolet:

One of the things that is really notable about Moscow and yet not many people outside Russia know about, is how gorgeous the Moscow metro is.

These photos? That’s what the metro stations look like.

Yeah.

They’re called the “People’s palaces of Moscow” or else “Underground palaces,” and they were built during the Soviet era on the Communist idea that art and beauty should belong to the people rather than only being available in the houses of nobles.

These photos show just some of the metro’s attractions. There are many more mosaics, statues, etc, placed throughout.

And the metro is always this clean.

In addition to being beautiful, it is incredibly functional. It gets you pretty much everywhere in Moscow, and the trains run at intervals of every three minutes or less. At peak times, they run every 90 seconds. You never have to worry about missing a train, because the next one will come almost immediately.

Not always of course. In the late evening or early morning hours, you may have to wait as long as five whole minutes for a train. They’re also super easy to navigate.

We Russians are pretty proud of our metro system.

I remember thinking “If I can get through this, I’m going to have a big piece of cake.” I do everything for cake.

You asked me if you were a good man. And the answer is, I don’t know. But I think you try to be and I think that’s probably the point.

"I think to always just remember that you can never know all; you’re always going to be learning; there’s always going to be something new. I don’t think you’ll ever have it all figured out. I think if you do, you’ve got the wrong end of the stick, or you shouldn’t be doing it. You should always be worried, or never be quite content with what you’ve done, or you might be going down the wrong path.

#her

"

1. Your skin may never be perfect, and that’s okay.

2. Life is too short not to have the underwear, the coffee, and the haircut you want.

3. Everyone (including your family, your coworkers, and your best friend) will talk about you behind your back, and you’ll talk about them too. It doesn’t mean you don’t love each other.

4. It’s okay to spend money on things that make you happy.

5. Sometimes without fault or reason, relationships deteriorate. It will happen when you’re six, it will happen when you’re sixty. That’s life.

"

Five things I am trying very hard to accept.  (via adrians)

addition to #3 - not everything said will be disparaging or derogatory, sometimes what is said about you is actually very nice things.

This was going to be the most exciting voyage of our lives. To go West. I have dreamed of it many times and in my dreams we are always together.
